STACK Interiors designed the Worldline offices with ample collaborative space and natural light in Auckland, New Zealand.

Worldline, formerly Paymark, is New Zealand’s leading paytech provider. Since launching EFTPOS in New Zealand in 1989, Worldline specialise in payment solutions that help New Zealand businesses grow – in-store, online and via mobile.

In 2022, STACK was engaged to design and build Worldline’s new workplace at 88 Shortland Street in Auckland. Seizing upon the opportunity presented by the move to a new office and acknowledging the changes to workplaces brought about by the COVID Pandemic, Worldline used the relocation to reconsider their workplace approach and future workstyles.

The brief for Worldline’s new office was to create a destination for Worldline’s people. The new office needed to be a place people want to come into, that provided a workplace buzz and a safe place to work. The goal was a fresh and flexible modern office that brings people together and enhances culture and collaboration. Worldline wanted to create a new home or, in this case, a home away from home for their people.

Inspiration was taken from the natural environment—a place that allows us to relax and recharge. A place within our natural environment is an iconic kiwi bach (beach house), which inspired the space to link outside and inside, the beach to mountains.

Located on Level 18 of the Shortland & Fort Building in Auckland, the fitout includes built zones that wrap around the central services core and open out to the western part of the floorplate, which is dedicated to a large multi-use arrival / connection / social / meet space. The tenancy’s main entry invites you towards this western zone by way of a visually open bespoke timber lattice wall and frameless glass entry doors. This ensures a relaxed and inviting arrival experience for visitors, while still adhering to Worldline’s multi-level security requirements, including a ‘24/7 365 day’ restricted ‘control’ facility that monitors NZ’s EFTPOS systems.
