this post of the pretty french chateau with so much greenery going on reminded me how soothing i find nature whether it’s getting outside, spending time in my garden, or bringing the gardening inside. i’ve been working on some propagating of plant cuttings and avocado pits in my kitchen window and i can’t tell you how just that small little project brings me so much simple joy. You can actually grow herbs, vegetables, and plants using nothing more than an interesting container, or glass vessel, and some water making sure that the cutting gets the sunlight it needs (called Hydroponics). it’s a really satisfying process and there are even ready-made glass growing containers, hanging vessels and pretty propagation vases out there designed specifically to help you if you’re feeling a little daunted. there are also tons of youtube videos showing you just how easy it is to do it, or simply do a quick search on pinterest.

even potting and growing herbs is a truly fun and uplifting thing we can all easily do. i love planting in vintage pots, with a well-worn patina. or cool old ceramic vessels i find on etsy. i think with everything these last few years have put us through, and now with the start of 2022 we could all use any distractions we can get, so if you can spend time in your garden, or even bring a little of the outside into your homes, i think those little green gestures can go a long way to lift our spirits. if you can forage from your yard, or a nature trail, or get safely to your local nursery, right now might be a nice time to tend to a little inside herb garden, or add a small tree to your home, or even create a little outside oasis for yourself. and if you can, plant a small container garden outside. here’s to the healing properties of the great outdoors.
