as you may have noticed from previous posts of my house, it’s got a sweet little front patio on the lower deck, just outside my guest cottage. it’s been in dire need of some tender loving care as of late and partnering with orchard supply hardware, it got a much needed petite patio makeover today! i have tons of pots and vintage planters, but i loved mixing them up with new, but vintage-inspired ceramic pots i found at orchard’s brand new store in long beach. to give it that kind of ‘let’s pretend we live in tuscany this summer’ i got all kinds of planting tools, soil and supplies and planted a couple of pretty potted olive trees, lavender, rosemary and a mix of succulents.
the orchard stores are so great, too. i have never had such a happy, positive experience at a hardware store before, especially a large chain — but their stores make you feel more like you’re visiting a local neighborhood corner store. their staff is knowledgeable and friendly and their stores are laid out beautifully with almost everything you might need to give your home a whole new beautiful look — indoor and outdoor.
i also gave my lounge chair a facelift with their super stylish black & white Shore classic striped deluxe chaise Cushion and now it’s a super comfy place for my cottage tenant to relax and chill out. atop the picnic table, i added more plants from orchard’s nursery and a really pretty iron & glass lantern to set a pretty mood at night. to add to the mood, i also hung their vintage-inspired solar powered string lights around the deck railing. so with just a few minor and very easy changes i’ve been able to give the patio a beautiful makeover and added an almost whole additional outdoor room to the house, and for cottage guests to hang out and relax. and now with the new lighting, plants, and chaise, it looks really pretty from the street, too — adding much more curb appeal!
