i am finally back from my travels, oh-so-happy to see my sweet pup lucy and sleep in my own bed, and also jetlagged and on the mend from one of those nasty travel colds — but not without fond memories from both spain and portugal. we added on a visit to lisbon at the last minute, and were most fortunate to find the most charming place to stay! so first up on my holiday recap is baixa house — a gorgeous 13 unit apartment in the heart of lisbon. we found this gem via petite passport, as well as a number of other invaluable spots to see on our travels, so be sure and check out world traveler pauline’s beautiful and informative blog!

baixa house was the loveliest apartment to stay in — central to everything including loads of great restaurants, shopping and sites to see all within walking distance and also very afforable. designed by a spanish designer, it was full of unique vintage but comfy pieces and decorated with fresh flowers — it’s those little things that make a place special and memorable. each morning they hung a bag of fresh baked bread at our door and the fridge was stocked with fresh yogurt, cheeses, butter for our bread. there was always fresh coffee and milk, too. we stayed in unit 4b, campo grande — the space is minimalist chic and spare in that perfectly european way — with beautiful morning light, so there was no need to rush out the door to hunt for breakfast. i was content right where i was, eating at the beautiful old farm table and taking in the picturesque view from the fourth floor.

both bedrooms were super charming, too — one with a whimsical mural and the most interesting bedside tables and lamps. the other, with fab orange chairs and a wall of vintage wicker mirrors. both rooms had comfy queen-sized beds and large french doors to admire the view from, not to mention a lovely marble bathroom and plenty of fresh linens and towels. if you’re headed to lisbon anytime soon, i highly recommend looking into a stay a baixa house. more about our trip to lisbon coming up!
