best of / on trend: moody, rustic bathroom design.
rustic, steampunk, industrial, even a little wabi-sabi, whatever you prefer to call it, i love this look of a moody bathroom that’s just a little rough around the edges. when you pair rustic-looking sinks with perhaps some dark paint or roughed up, peeling plaster walls or an interesting tile pattern and then add some rather ornate touches like lighting fixtures, hardware, or a vintage mirror the contrasting pieces come together with a lot of panache. for instance, a few looks i love are repurposing a willy guhl planter as a pedestal sink (above) or using a free-floating, rough-edged Marble Vessel Sink, river stone wash basin or a super cool Natural Stone Vessel Sink as the main point of interest in a powder room (versus say the main bath) because you can get away with a little less practicality and a whole lot more drama. add some unusual wall sconces, or brass or copper faucets (lots of brand new fixtures have a vintage vibe these days) and you’ve got such a stylish, unique, and unexpectedly fabulous-looking loo.
