
alrighty, my friends, we’re popping across the pond to paradise today, but perhaps not the palm-lined beaches you might be imagining. instead, we’re actually headed to lovely, old londontown — and another surprise, we are not eating traditional English food. instead, we’re having Sri Lankan cooking with contemporary, ingredient-focused cooking doused with a fiery island accent at . the dishes here had my mouth watering and are based on family recipes influenced by Portuguese, Malay, South Indian, and Dutch cuisine and served up in a very brutalist-inspired interior — think spare steel and concrete, but somehow still cozy and charming. we’re going casual and feminine today, with a darling print worn over a matching black and . add to that some cool but comfy , my favorite , a very chic , and a whole bunch of . before we jet off to london, or on the flight over i suggest reading a classic — by virginia wolfe. the novel takes place over the course of a single day in a woman’s life in 1920’s London. There are flowers to buy, outfits to choose, but also a visit from a past lover, and the tragic fate of a young war veteran who cannot adjust to life in post-war London. Ms. Woolf’s mesmerizing account of this ordinary day draws us into the minds, perceptions, and emotions of an astonishingly varied and vivid cast of characters. brilliant!
