Originally from England and now living in Australia for the past 12 years, Murphy has cultivated a distinct style that emphasises line, form and spatial rhythm. Influenced by his architect father, his work reflects a deep understanding of architectural composition, materiality and the subtle nuances that define a space.
Murphy’s award-winning work on Lune Rosebery showcases the new Sydney flagship for the celebrated bakery, Lune. Designed by emerging studio In Addition, the space balances heritage architecture with contemporary design interventions. The dramatic arched entry, ebonised vestibule walls and glass cube interior set the stage for an immersive visitor experience. Murphy’s photography emphasises the dialogue between the Brutalist concrete counter, sculptural brass bar and heritage bones of the original building, highlighting how materials and light shape perception.
Bespoke details, such as the brass timeline and curved portals inspired by celestial movements, create layers of discovery within the space.
