i’m making up a new genre — kinda, sorta anyway — modern surf. i think mid-century modern already has a kind of natural, beachy vibe — maybe it’s the curvy shapes and the color palette. to get this laid-back aesthetic you simply add one part mid-century furniture, add some cacti or succulents, maybe a dried palm frond or two and a color palette pulled from nature: seafoam, aqua, sand, coral and ochre — those all work quite well. aren’t you feeling those relaxed modern surf vibes already?
