today, June 21st, is the summer solstice, the longest day and shortest night of the year. so, technically it’s not a color but more of a mood, so that’s what today’s color story is all about — those long summer days we cherish and look forward to. the vibe is washed-out blues and natural earth tones, that subdued color of dusk when you’re one of the last few people lingering at the beach. the color of seashells, swimming in salt water, and white sand on your tanned feet, and everywhere else for that matter. i never mind — my favorite part of the day is rinsing all that sand off in a cool shower (especially an outdoor one) and then crawling beneath clean sheets for a leisurely summer read and perhaps an afternoon nap. it’s that vibe that takes over you when you finally arrive at your beautiful holiday home, drop your bags, and remember you don’t need to be anywhere at all anytime soon. your biggest concern is where to hang the damp beach towels to dry out for tomorrow’s beach day. are you with me? if not yet, i hope this post gets you on your way. happy summer solstice, everyone!
