i didn’t share this personal news because at the time it was honestly just too painful to make public, but in june of 2018 my dear mum passed away after a long illness. grieving is a difficult process and different for everyone and you don’t really know how it will affect you until you go through it (or grow through it), but i am coming out the other side if there is such a thing, and now sadness is slowly being replaced by fond memories. so when one of my favorite sources for creating beautiful photo books, artifact uprising invited me to make a mother’s day book to share with family, and ultimately with you, i wasn’t sure i could do it. but then i thought what a lovely way to remember my mom this mother’s day and to share those memories with my brother, sister-in-law and nieces — the family i have left.
i became in charge of all my mother’s photographs and mementos when she passed away and i’d been hoping to do something special with them, so this hardcover book is just that — a way to honor that which is meaningful, and in a lovely permanent way. so i scanned and uploaded some of my favorite photos — of my mother at an early age, a photo when she was pregnant with me at her baby shower, she and my dad smooching, and oodles of snapshots from our many family trips. and then some as she got older. i think she’d really like this book — my mother was fond of attention, bless her heart, and would, i think, have been very flattered. i hope so. i will treasure it always and think my family will, too. if you’d like to make a memory book for mother’s day this year, Artifact Uprising is offering 10% off to my readers! simply use code SFMOTHERSDAY10– for 10% off anything on the site through May 1st. please note that May 2 is the Mother’s Day cut-off for FedEx Economy shipping with Artifact Uprising. and thank you for allowing me to share these special memories of my mother with you. happy mother’s day to all the mums out there.
