What factors are going to determine your choice – price, reputation, availability, or something else? Unfortunately, neither price, nor reputation, nor availability can guarantee happiness.
Price is, of course, relative to the end result.
Reputation – as I discovered – is easily manipulated.
And availabilty can – again as I discovered – be a mirage.
I’ve bought six solar systems over the past 10 years. I’ve watched as the technology improved, resulting in more efficient systems, even as prices have plummeted. The last two intallations I have contracted included battery storage.
As ‘bang for bucks’- or more accurately, ‘kW for every dollar’ keeps improving, more homes are moving to solar, especially here in Australia where roof-top solar has already been installed on more than 43% of homes.
In the same way that sharks are attracted to blood, so shonky operators are attracted to the solar boom. What follows is the story of my two most recent interactions with installers…
