y’all might start calling me sfgirlviaparis soon because here we are again back in the city of lights for this week’s wear this there. but this beautiful restaurant, bambini, very justly deserves a trip back to paris, even if we are eating italian. located in the Palais de Tokyo, bambini is an italian restaurant celebrating the dolce vita with sumptuous colorful booths, dramatic lighting, and a maximalist approach to interiors from designers friedmann & versace — complete with two wall frescoes, one by Roberto Ruspoli and the other by Céramiques du Beaujolais and a view of the Eiffel tower. More than just a dinner table, this restaurant celebrates the theatrical and gastronomic art of living. one of the things we kept noticing on this last trip to paris was all the women embracing menswear — oversized striped button-downs, high-waisted pleated pants, and a whole lot of pattern play so i’m jumping in to make sure we’re en vogue. i’m pairing a fabulous red & white striped blouse with some Patterned Wide-Leg Trousers and an open-backed bolero-style jacket. add to that a great bucket hat, bright red leather sandals and tote bag, and oversized sunnies. i’ve also added some frilly briefs to play off the menswear look and since we’re just dropping in for a quick stay, i’ve added some girlie sleepwear in our overnight bag. to get you in the mood for bambini’s gastronomic delights, i suggest reading a sweet little book with a long name entitled provence, 1970: m.f.k. fisher, julia child, james beard, and the reinvention of american taste by luke barr, the great-nephew of food writer m.f.k. fisher. it’s a fun read about these major food influencers and their time together in provence, france. bon appétit!
