it seems like almost everyone i know is making a trip to Portugal lately, and lisbon in particular, and having been there twice i can honestly tell you, you should try and go, too. on my first visit, i was fortunate enough to stay at baixa house, charming boutique apartments in the heart of the city’s historic district. it was recommended to me by petite passport, who if you happen to be a travel buff, must be added to your ‘review before traveling’ list. as you can tell from these photos from their instagram feed, it’s one of the homiest, loveliest places to stay — complete with their own kitchens and fresh bread that is dropped off at your room each morning — you’ll find it adorably hanging in a sweet little bread bag from your doorknob. how special is that? your fridge is stocked with fresh yogurt and milk, along with great coffee. it’s so cozy here, you might not feel like leaving their well-appointed and beautifully designed 18th-century apartments — with close attention to detail in each of their 13 apartments by interior designer javier cargo. i almost don’t want to tell you about baixa house since they were all booked up on my last trip to lisbon, but do try and stay in this charming space. i think you’ll love it.
