i’m slowly getting my laguna cottage together after moving in last week, and one of the areas i managed to get semi-pulled-together was the kitchen, and more specifically, the kitchen counter. i haven’t had a real kitchen counter in forever, but partnering with serena & lily, and their super cute barstool collection, their fresh take on casual dining is the perfect look for my new life at the beach. i chose two of their Riviera Backless Counter Stools in natural and they look so great with my 1920’s funky retro kitchen counter tile.
this morning lucy and i went for an early dog walk on the beach and then stopped at the farmer’s market to stock up the very bare fridge. followed by a light breakfast and coffee afterward at the cute kitchen counter with our bamboo stools was a perfect way to start our first weekend in laguna. i got out my favorite bowls and vintage coffee set, paired them with serena & lily’s Brela Napkins (block printed and inspired by a vintage textile library in India) and it all looked so fun together — almost too pretty to eat (but the coconut cream yogurt with blueberries and granola was too good not to). i think i need to make this a new weekend ritual.
growing up, we always ate at the kitchen counter, watching my mum cook and i love the casual feel of pulling up a stool to eat, or inviting friends into the kitchen for a glass of wine while i cook. serena & lily has a lot of beautiful barstools to choose from, and here are just a few of my favorites. bon appétit with a barstool!
