Zero Gravity Design reimagined the 12th floor of MediaCity’s Blue Tower as a flexible workplace with a softer, more welcoming identity. Located in Salford Quays, the 8,200 sq ft refurbishment brings private office suites together with shared spaces for meeting, collaboration and everyday social interaction.
The design responds to the floor’s extensive glazing and views across the Quays. Daylight became a starting point for a palette of blush pink, muted mint and warm terracotta, complemented by natural textures, planting and upholstered furniture. Iridescent accents introduce changing colour as light moves through the interior, giving circulation spaces a distinctive character.
The layout balances independent working with the benefits of a shared workplace. Private suites sit alongside meeting facilities and informal seating, offering different settings throughout the day. Furniture helps distinguish places for focused tasks, team conversations and more relaxed exchanges without losing the overall coherence of the scheme.
A communal kitchen and breakout area provide a social centre, while expressive lighting adds identity to the shared spaces. These elements bring a more domestic sense of comfort to the workplace, supporting the design ambition for an environment that feels approachable and considered.
The project gives an existing office floor a clear identity within MediaCity’s Flex offering. ZGD’s interior design combines colour, light and varied work settings to create a practical environment for growing businesses, with shared amenities that extend the experience beyond the individual office suite.
