the wooden home of finnish realtors anna ritakallio-mäkelä and tuomas mäkelä (and their budding design maven aida, who was gifted a rose-hued for her second birthday) might date back to 1847 but the interior is anything but classic. with modern chevron parquet on both the floor and the walls, a nordic color palette made fresh by pops of burgundy and pink, and of-the-moment fixtures, the couple has stamped the space with their own ethos of style. they told , “we wanted to honor the era the house was built in, its architecture and design. we also wanted to give our preference to finnish expertise.”
