the wooden home of finnish realtors anna ritakallio-mäkelä and tuomas mäkelä (and their budding design maven aida, who was gifted a rose-hued arne jacobsen series 7 chair for her second birthday) might date back to 1847 but the interior is anything but classic. with modern chevron parquet on both the floor and the walls, a nordic color palette made fresh by pops of burgundy and pink, and of-the-moment fixtures, the couple has stamped the space with their own ethos of style. they told finnish design shop, “we wanted to honor the era the house was built in, its architecture and design. we also wanted to give our preference to finnish expertise.”

i’m smitten with the rich, grounding carpet in the family room, the carrara marble backsplash that commands impressive real estate in the kitchen, and the perfectly honed bookshelf cubby! keep scrolling for more goodness.
