i know we just took a brief visit to recently with guest writer , but as you may have seen from my overload (sorry, i couldn’t help myself — i was surrounded by too much beauty!) i was in new orleans for this weekend. i’d only been to NOLA once and it was for business so i didn’t have a chance to get to know it well. but this visit we had a few days to wander and get to know this truly unique city and i honestly don’t think there’s anywhere else like it. there’s bourbon street, of course, and we went there one night because, well, it was a party after all, but what really captured my heart was uptown and . each home in this neighborhood is more charming than the next and i was mesmerized by its unique beauty. from Classic Revival mansions to colorful creole row houses, it had me at hello.

beautiful, brightly colored homes mingle with pastel beauties with magnificent mossy oak trees and magnolias, and jasmine overtakes your senses. we ate breakfast in the neighborhood two days in a row at because it’s just that good — think shrimp & grits and biscuits and gravy (yeah, I’m detoxing this week, but it was worth it!). we attempted to walk it off by wandering the streets in awe of all these homes and visiting local boutiques. a few i must recommend are for swoon-worthy home goods, for the most beautifully curated vintage designer clothing i’ve ever seen, and for a fabulous mix of unique clothing, jewelry, and homewares. and don’t forget to visit the beautiful for a memorable and historic piece of new orleans. i can’t wait to go back to this incredible city!
