Open Calls

Beam Center Open Call (International)
Beam Center is requesting design proposals for ambitious public artworks that will be brought to life through collaborations with youth. Chosen artists will receive a $5,000 award and a $15,000 fabrication budget.
Deadline: 11:59 p.m. EST on November 7, 2022.

Passepartout Photo Prize (International)
The Passepartout juried contest will award one photographer 500 Euros, exhibition participation, publication in a catalog, and promotion opportunities. This year’s prize also includes three additional awarding categories with an early entry fee of 20 Euros and a regular fee of 25 Euros.
Deadline: Early November 15, 2022, and final January 15, 2022.

The Hopper Prize (International)
The Hopper Prize is offering two unrestricted grants of $3,500 and four of $1,000 for its fall award cycle. All mediums are welcome.
Deadline: 11:59 p.m. PST on November 15, 2022.

London Craft Week 2023 (International)
The 2023 edition of London Craft Week runs May 8 to 14, and the annual event is accepting applications from emerging artist-maker-designers. There are a few free spaces available for those who qualify.
Deadline: November 25, 2022.

More Art Commission (U.S.)
More Art will commission one public art project from an early career artist with an $8,000 budget.
Deadline: December 1, 2022.

2022 Booooooom Photo Awards (International)
Six photographers will win $500 prizes as part of the Booooooom Photo Awards. Chosen entrants will also be featured in a miniature publication and on the site.
Deadline: 11:59 p.m. PST on December 9, 2022.

The David Prize (New York)
This prize awards five New Yorkers in any of the boroughs unrestricted $200,000 grants to support their vision for a better, brighter city.
Deadline: December 12, 2022.

Visual Art Open Prize (International)
Artists working across mediums are invited to apply for this prize, which offers £10,000 in awards. There is a £20 submission fee.
Deadline: December 12, 2022.

 

Grants

Bronx Council on the Arts Community Engagement Grants (Bronx)
Multiple applications are open through the Bronx Council on the Arts. Individual artists are eligible for $2,500 geared toward creating new work in a community setting, organizations are eligible for $100,000 in funding, and community projects are eligible for up to $5,000.
Deadline: November 14, 2022.

Getty Images + GLAAD Chosen Family Grant (International)
Open to photographers and videographers, the Chosen Family grant will provide a $10,000, $7,000, and $3,000 award to three entrants. The goal is to help increase the visibility of the LGBTQ+ community while also challenging harmful and cliched stereotypes.
Deadline: November 18, 2022.

The Aftermath Project Grant (International)
The Aftermath Project will award $25,000 to one photographer interested in exploring the effects of war. Four finalists will also receive $5,000 grants.
Deadline: November 18, 2022.

Dexter Jones Award (U.S.)
Open to artists born between 1983 and 2004, the Dexter Jones Award grants one sculptor working in bas-relief with either figurative or nature-based subject matter a $5,000 stipend.
Deadline: November 21, 2022.

Innovate Grants (International)
Innovate Grants offers two $550 grants each quarter to a visual artist and photographer. All mediums are accepted. There is a $25 application fee.
Deadline: December 15, 2022.

Puffin Foundation Annual Artist Grant (U.S.)
The Puffin Foundation provides grants of up to $2,500 to artists and art organizations addressing environmental, social justice, civil rights, and other contemporary issues.
Deadline: December 31, 2022.

$500,000 Creative Capital x Skoll Foundation Fund (U.S.)
Kickstarter, Creative Capital, and Skoll Foundation launched a $500,000 Creative Capital x Skoll Foundation Fund to support projects by Asian, Black, Indigenous, and Latinx creators. Awards are given out on an ongoing basis to creators in categories like Arts, Comics & Illustration, Design & Tech, Film, Food & Craft, Games, Music, and Publishing.
Deadline: Rolling.

Adobe Creative Residency Community Fund (Ukraine or refugee)
Adobe’s Creative Residency Community Fund commissions visual artists to create company projects on a rolling basis. Awardees will receive between $500 and $5,000.

Residencies & Fellowships

BigCi Environmental Awards (International)
Artists of all disciplines are eligible for the BigCi Environmental Awards, which will offer two recipients a four-week residency in the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Greater Blue Mountains and a $4,000 prize. There is a $35 entry fee.
Deadline: November 4, 2022.

Recycled Artists in Residency (International)
RAIR Philly announced that it was extending its deadline for this year’s two residency programs, which give artists access to Revolution Recovery’s waste stream to create new works.
Deadline: November 7, 2022. (Note that the RAIR website states the deadline is October 31.)

Lenore Tawney Fellowship (International)
Artists, scholars, writers, and curators are invited to apply for the 2023 remote Lenore G. Tawney Fellowship at the John Michael Kohler Arts Center. This fellowship fosters engagement with Tawney’s art environment installed at JMKAC’s Art Preserve in Sheboygan, Wisconsin.
Deadline: November 14, 2022.

Amant Studio & Research Residency Program (International)
Artists working in visual arts, cultural theory, performance, filmmaking, and writing are encouraged to apply for the Amant residency, which provides a $3,000 monthly allowance, roundtrip flights and airport transit to New York City, studio space, and access to the artistic team.
Deadline: November 15, 2022.

Women’s Studio Workshop Residencies (International)
Women’s Studio Workshop has several residencies open to women, trans, intersex, nonbinary, and gender-fluid visual artists.
Deadline: November 15, 2022.

Baxter St Residency (New York)
Open to emerging New York-based photographers, the Baxter St Residency provides a monthly $1,000 stipend, use of the facilities and equipment at Baxter St at Camera Club of New York, a secondary photo lab, and a solo exhibition.
Deadline: November 17, 2022.

Print Public Municipal Artist Residency (Bay Area)
Print Public is seeking two artists or artist teams to work within the City of Berkeley’s Planning Department. Recipients will receive a $9,000 stipend, a $1,000 materials budget, and a 16-month residency at Kala.
Deadline: November 18, 2022.

Smack Mellon Studio Program Open Call (International)
Six emerging or early-career visual artists will be awarded private studio space and access to a digital production lab and a fabrication shop in Dumbo.
Deadline: 11:59 p.m. EST on November 23, 2022.

Bernheim Arboretum and Research Forest’s Artist in Residence Program (International)
Open to artists working in any medium, this program offers four residencies, each of which comes with a $2,500 stipend. One residency is dedicated to an artist currently living in Kentucky or southern Indiana, and another is geared toward work addressing the climate crisis.
Deadline: Midnight EST on November 28, 2022.

Moab Arts Re-Use Residency (International)
This residency aims to challenge the perception of waste culture by working with artists at the intersection of art, community, and waste systems. This four-week residency offers artists studio space, project and community facilitation, a $1,500 stipend, and access to materials at local waste disposal sites.
Deadline: 12 a.m. MST on November 30, 2022.

Center for Craft Teaching Artist Cohort (International)
Twenty-one mid-career craft artists will receive unrestricted grants of $10,000 and participate in an eight-month program that explores artists’ roles as educators.
Deadline: November 30, 2022.

On::View Artist Residency Program (International)
Sulfur Studios in Savannah, Georgia, will host four artists throughout the summer of 2023 for consecutive residencies with a group exhibition slated for early 2024. The application fee is $50.
Deadline: December 10, 2022.

Joshua Tree Highlands Artist Residency (International)
Open across disciplines, this residency offers a $1,000 stipend and space to work for a seven-week residency. There is a $45 application fee.
Deadline: 11:59 p.m. MST on January 10, 2023.

Etant Donnés Curatorial Fellowship (U.S.)
Open to U.S.-based curators interested in researching the French art scene, these fellowships offer research opportunities and a $3,000 stipend.
Deadline: Rolling.
