At the new Flagship Furniture Gallery, Claremont in Western Australia, BHO Interiors aimed to evoke a wide range of tastes and experiences within residential and commercial spaces, from the serenity and opulent comfort of loungerooms to the glamorous conviviality of dining areas.

From the moment visitors arrive and are greeted by the curved membrane ceiling at reception and signature planter wall, they are taken on a sensory journey into art and design. BHO creatively planned the showroom journey to incorporate fluid movement between interconnected zones that display a harmonious ambience.

Variations in palette from sophisticated dark schemes to bright, coastal-chic light colours are enhanced through subtle use of elevated platforms to bring variation and create focal areas. Curves and arches bring a sense of gentle grandeur to the interconnection between individual areas, with flourishes such as open shelving in divider walls creating enticing glimpses into the spaces beyond.

In addition to a wide range of Australian-made furniture, the showroom displays and retails original, handcrafted art with gallery-style areas that complement the diversity of forms, textures and styles of furnishings including couches, coffee tables, ottomans, dining tables, dining chairs, occasional tables, chests and shelving.

As a boutique, community-focused retail space, spaciousness, robustness and simplicity were also crucial considerations. For this reason, Polyflor Expona Commercial PUR flooring in Oiled Oak was specified as a unifying flooring solution throughout the showroom.

The timber-like colouration and the interplay of light and dark within each of the resilient flooring boards complements the architectural layering of spaces and harmonises elegantly with both the light spaces and the darker, mood-driven zones.

Laid in a herringbone pattern, the flooring also brings a subtle dynamism to the horizontal plane, while also providing a seamless and dynamic intuitive guidance between the carefully curated layout transitions. It gives a warm, natural background that enhances the feeling of stylish serenity in the showroom while also being a unifying element that echoes the themes of craftsmanship and timeless elegance.

The Oiled Oak Expona Commercial PUR is a plank-style product that contains up to 40% recycled content and is fully recyclable. It meets the requirements of GreenTag LCARate™ Gold Plus and GreenRate™ Level A sustainability schemes.

It has also been tested to meet European standards for indoor air quality protection, delivers excellent acoustic performance and is simple to install, with a bevelled edge that aligns with a wide range of flooring aesthetics and geometric styles.

Polyflor worked closely with BHO Interiors to ensure the flooring selection aligned with both the design intent and the practical demands of a high-end retail environment. Early in the specification process, careful consideration was given to criteria including colour tones, patterns, availability and performance expectations including durability, acoustics, maintenance and sustainability.

Through providing samples, support and technical guidance, Polyflor was able to ensure the design team and their client could be confident in the final choice of flooring and its alignment with the architectural intent and how it would complement the showroom’s products and the experience of customers and staff.
