I’m not sure how they would be able to differentiate between in-store and online at if you use two different credit cards. Additional fine print:

The gets you 5% off Target in-store and Target.com purchases every day, but a few exclusions do apply including prescription medicine and Target gift cards. REDcard also gets you 2-day free shipping on many items and an extended return window (extra 30 days). There is also a debit card version connects directly to a designated checking account, for those that want to avoid having a credit card (and theoretically a credit check although the debit card application still asks for your Social Security number and driver’s license information).
