i must have had some kind of brain fade, because as you may have seen on instagram back in october, i had the pleasure of finally meeting my personal hero, diane keaton. the following day i jettisoned to copenhagen and then to paris for business and somehow forgot to post all about it! anyway, diane keaton wrote a beautiful design book, the house that pinterest built — inspired by you guessed it, pinterest. and pinterest hosted a meetup with diane who made this amazing presentation about how her book came to be. diane was building a new home in los angeles and used pinterest to gather all her inspiration, so in her presentation (which was also hilarious and down to earth) she shared photographs of her pins, and then her interpretation of them in the construction and design of the house.
not surprisingly, the house turned out just as stunning as her book, published by rizzoli — even more so, of course. her vision was unwavering, which is one of the things i admire so much about diane keaton — she’s always so authentic. and she has such a keen and quirky sense of style that’s so perfectly spot-on and she rarely strays from it. and in some ways, the exterior architecture and interior design of the house beautifully imitates her sense of style, too. diane keaton is true to herself, and i think that’s what we all find so appealing and enviable about her. at least it is to me. it was an honor to meet her and experience her wit, self-depreciation and charm in person — she was just as warm and delightful as you might imagine. if you’re still in search of a christmas gift for some of the design lovers on your gift list, i highly recommend the house that pinterest built.
