, the leaning platforms famed for its excellent TED talks, has released a short film produced by London ad agency , which explores the future of Artificial Intelligence (A.I.) – more specifically, what would happen if A.I. bots become human enough to experience mental health issues.
Set in the year 2118, Mother London hypothesizes a reality in which, after 100 years of progress, A.I. bots have finally become too human for their own good.
Dubbed ‘A.I. therapy’, the hilarious and colourful stars Rebecca Front and Hugh Skinner as therapist and bot respectively. Front features a session with third generation A.I. Archie, who suffers depression because of people who barely notice his unique talent. Archie spends majority of the year in Bali creating his own line of toe rings while his mother had performed 10,000 heart transplants at his age.
The therapist explains to camera how the ‘third generation’ of A.I. bots have taken on human form and despite their immense successes, are experiencing the human plague of ‘privilege’. “They’ve grown up wealthy and educated, and without any real purpose they’ve gravitated towards fields like art and DJ-ing, and that’s just made them more miserable,” she explains.
To top things off, this exceptionally produced, laugh-out-loud short film also captures the opulent silk outfits worn by the cast and super-cool interiors of the therapist’s office.
