For generations, First Nation’s people have shared culture through art, stories and dance. Josh Haddock, a Yorta Yorta man and the director of Dreamtime Flooring, aims to continue this cultural legacy of preservation and communication through an exciting new medium: flooring.

GH Commercial partners proudly with Dreamtime Flooring to bring the work of their artists to vivid life using local manufacturing technology in Geelong, Victoria. Together, the two companies embark on a meaningful journey towards the inclusion, appreciation and celebration of indigenous culture and artwork in the built environment.

Dreamtime Flooring was born in 2022 to address the missing link that connects culture, artwork and flooring. As a 100% indigenously owned business, Dreamtime Flooring is firmly grounded in ideals of community and heritage, engaging with other Indigenous businesses and helping to streamline income back into Indigenous communities.

The integration of First Nation’s designs into the built environment is long overdue. Dreamtime Flooring aims to have as many buildings as possible embrace these ties to Aboriginal ancestry and culture, with a particular focus on public buildings such as government, council, schools, libraries and galleries.

This is a step towards the considered engagement of future generations with employment opportunities, apprenticeships and traineeships – by providing environments which welcome and celebrate Indigenous heritage.

Dreamtime Flooring have a range of standard products, but perhaps what makes this setup so special is their ability to create custom projects. The Dreamtime Flooring team will work with you and one of their Indigenous artists from concept and design all the way through to the delivery of the final product.

GH Commercial’s technology provides the perfect foundation to bring the complex design work of Indigenous art to life, using Designer Jet® precision engineering to provide a creative, high-performance and exceptionally flexible flooring solution with infinite colour possibilities.

As Dreamtime Flooring’s supporting manufacturing partner, GH Commercial have fostered a relationship built on mutual trust and respect with director Haddock and the Dreamtime Flooring business as a whole.

GH Commercial manufactures the final products, while the design and developmental process is entirely in the hands of Haddock and Dreamtime, allowing them full ownership and control over the work produced and enabling them to support their local Indigenous Communities.
