wear this there: don francisco’s coffee casa cubana.
we’re sticking around the neighborhood on this week’s wear this there and headed to DTLA and checking out the new Don Francisco’s Coffee Casa Cubana. if you’ve ever been to cuba, then you’ll know how nice it is to have access to a CAFÉ CON LECHE in our own backyard. the coffee drink is a standard around havana — think a Sweet double shot of espresso with steamed whole milk — yum! but should you also be a bit hungry, there’s cuban pastries, a delicious PORK AND PLANTAIN HASH as well as the beloved cubano pork sandwich. so, even though i recommend a trip to cuba for everyone, there’s now don francisco’s to whet your appetite. we’re going casual, but chic in a puffy black sleeve blouse, comfy faded jeans and some sleek strappy sandals. toss a woven fringy bag over your shoulder and a wide brim hat and you’re ready to head downtown. while you sip your coffee, think about reading The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao by Junot Diaz. it shares the story of Oscar, a family’s dreaded curse and the endless human capacity to persevere — and risk it all in the name of love.
