Zenergi Offices – Southampton

Following a significant brand project, energy consultancy Zenergi wanted its new head office space in Southampton to be aligned with their refreshed visual identity.

The rebrand was part of a wider strategy to unify the firm’s position following a restructuring of their services, to position them as a market-leading net zero consultancy centred on four solutions — Comply, Deliver, Buy, and Net Zero.

Keen to live out these values, the team sought a smarter space that better facilitated hybrid working, allowing the business to save on heating and reduce their own environmental impact. This is a core part of why Zenergi exists – to bring down carbon emissions and power a more sustainable future

The brief: an on-brand redesign to support hybrid working
Having worked with leading brand agency Chaos Design to create their distinctive new brand identity, the team at Zenergi embarked on the redesign project at their offices in Southampton Science Park to align the new workspaces with the net-zero company’s values and purpose.

The new office interior design needed to embody this mission using the company’s signature colours of forest green with a pop of orange, while also incorporating the complementary brand shades of sky blue, sage, sand and charcoal.

AXIS House was chosen for the project due to our expertise in translating ‘brand’ into compelling office design. We were tasked with creating bold and inviting spaces, including desk areas, meeting rooms, and a core breakout zone.

The look and feel of the office space had to reference the vibrancy and power of the Zenergi brand while also providing a ‘WELL-standards’ inspired, calm environment to facilitate hybrid working and effective collaboration.

The solution: inspiring office interior design that accelerates the Zenergi way
To help ring the changes at Zenergi’s new office, allowing the team to live and breathe the purpose together, we divided the space into distinct zones, each with their own look and feel. There are open-plan banks of desks and pods for hybrid working, three tech-enabled meeting rooms, lots of storage and a neat welcome area.

Finally, a light and bright kitchen and relaxation space features the hero brand values on a ‘culture wall’. This was a key feature for the client, helping to reinforce what Zenergi stands for.

Strong colours from the company’s brand primary palette are combined with softer tones to keep the scheme grounded, while biophilic elements help to break up the space and soften any hard edges. Planting features throughout the scheme – such as the oversized Bird of Paradise in the meeting room – quietly improve the environment for wellbeing, productivity and stress reduction.

Overall, the new office design is modern and light, as well as being a hugely practical space that enables the teams to work efficiently and collaboratively. The interior design perfectly reflects Zenergi’s highly considered brand identity while providing a welcoming environment for a very forward-thinking sustainability consultancy.

The brand’s DNA: lived
In light of the firm’s revamped brand strategy, the Zenergi team wanted the office redesign to pull everything together, reinforcing its new identity. To achieve this, we leveraged the standout graphic work, incorporating the following aspects into their office design…

– The company values and ‘culture wall’ is a key feature in the kitchen featuring value statements as a visual reminder of Zenergi’s purpose and mission.
– Planters above and beside the desks to soften the space and create a link with the company’s connection to the natural world.
– Stunning signature colours and imagery incorporated into furniture, wall artwork, glazing and flooring to reference Zenergi’s sustainability objectives.

The result: a stylish new office for a more sustainable future
Keeping Zenergi’s distinctive branding in mind, we designed a series of welcoming spaces conducive to collaboration. The colour palette features subtle shades of sand, stone and blue, as well as Zenergi’s signature forest green. These nods to nature reference the company’s commitment to the environment, while incorporating the brand’s essential components.

The tones, textures and assets combine to create a space which is energising but never overwhelming. The Zenergi team now has a cohesive, stylish place to work which perfectly reflects their visual identity.
