1. Stretch ceiling

People refuse PVC films because they “feel an unpleasant chemical odor,” are afraid of the “greenhouse effect,” “suffocate.” To avoid this, choose trusted manufacturers with a quality certificate or give preference to fabric stretch fabrics. These are recommended that you abandon the stretch ceiling if you have the time and money to level it differently. But if your goal is to protect against leaks from the apartment above, this finishing method is ideal.
2. Shower cabin
A lot speaks in favor of a full bath: it makes it possible to relax, lying in warm water, bathe the baby, wash it and stock up on water in an emergency. But the shower cubicle has a unique advantage: it saves space. 3. Linoleum
The controversy about the harm and “artificiality” of this flooring does not subside for many years. But judging by the opinion of users, linoleum will not lose its popularity for a long time. Unlike laminate, it does not creak, does not swell from water, or requires special care. Linoleum is easy to fit and does not create noise. If you like natural wood, it is better to choose a board or parquet, but the floor will have to be carefully examined. If you do not want to spend a lot of time cleaning, give preference to linoleum: if you have quality certificates, the coating will not harm your health. Choose material from trusted manufacturers – and the floor will look no worse than natural wood.
4. Facades without handles
If you want a minimalist kitchen set, then this is the solution for you. Doors that open with one click look aesthetically pleasing, noble, and modern. They are perfect for small kitchens: the handles do not “break up” the space, so the furniture looks solid, and the room is less cluttered. But what do the owners of such headsets complain about? Firstly, you need to open the doors in two movements: press, then open. Secondly, facades get dirty much faster, which is especially noticeable on glossy surfaces. And finally, the doors can open even by accidental pressing, which is very annoying in a cramped kitchen.
5. Decorative brick
About five years ago, this interior trend filled cafes and living spaces: people dreamed of an expressive loft-style, considering a brick wall a must. Now the movement has subsided, the brick has become boring to many, but it has not lost its relevance. If you like brickwork, don’t listen to other people’s criticism – it’s up to you to decide how harmoniously it fits into your interior.
6. Open shelves in the kitchen
An alternative to hanging cabinets causes a storm of negative emotions among supporters of easy cleaning: it is known that a considerable amount of dust accumulates on open shelves, cluttered with all kinds of kitchen utensils. Wipe down every plate and jar is a waste of time. But the trend is not slowing down: you can often see kitchens without upper cabinets, making the room cramped. On the other hand, the shelves help slightly expand the space and bring the design closer to a more minor “kitchen,” more comfortable one. If you don’t keep anything extra in your apartment, a kitchen with open shelves is for you. They can be decorated with decor and unpretentious houseplants.
7. Artificial flowers
“Fakes” have long ceased to be a rarity in design projects, but they still raise doubts among ordinary people. Someone is happy to decorate their house with them because they do not want to care for natural plants, and someone does not accept, speaking out against the “funeral” decor. Sometimes you can’t do without false plants, especially if you want to “revive” a poorly lit bathroom or hallway.
8. Ceiling plinth
They are designed to hide the flaws of the wall, which adjoins the ceiling. The cornice visually increases the width or height of the room, giving the atmosphere of completeness. But not everyone wants to see such a frame in their apartment, especially if they have a poor idea of removing it later.
The advantage of a ceiling plinth is that it saves time and budget: not every worker can create the perfect joint between the wall and the ceiling. But it would be best if you were careful with this technique:
- too massive product will reduce the height of the room;
- A low-quality polystyrene baseboard will look untidy if you neglect the staining and putty of the joints.
- Models with stucco molding are suitable only for classical styles and less often for eclecticism, and expensive plaster products should be used to recreate them.
9. Kitchen combined with living room
Is it appropriate to attach the cooking area to the recreation area? No one will give an unequivocal answer since such a layout can be comfortable in apartments. By combining the kitchen with the room, you can transform the Khrushchev, allocating space for the refrigerator, dining room, and TV corner. Suppose you can afford a powerful hood and are ready to think about a harmonious design and zoning. In that case, the kitchen-living room will be an excellent choice and open up new possibilities. If the apartment has only one room, then soon you may regret joining the kitchen.
10. Wallpaper
Some consider canvases depicting tastelessness, while others create luxurious interiors with their help. Correctly selected wallpaper can adjust the proportions of the room and optically deepen the space. This is a great accent that will add personality to the environment. Unfortunately, high-quality wallpapers with a clear image are not cheap. They require careful surface preparation and careful gluing. The selected drawing can quickly get bored, and it will not be easy to get rid of it.
