at long last, i have a ‘real’ dining room. as you may have seen on , i’ve long been plotting to convert my into a dining space to entertain properly. i’ve been using a makeshift in my living room to host friends and family and it was just not quite adequate enough — space-wise and practicality was nil. and because i generally work from a laptop computer i never sit in my office and instead it became a place to accumulate paperwork and lots of ‘stuff’ — something i’m trying to really stop doing. so, with a little help from my (especially during covid) i scoured some of my favorite homewares shops and put together what’s now an official dining room!
i’m going to love eating and entertaining in this room because not only is the light beautiful during the day, and opens up through french doors to my outdoor garden, but it looks equally as pretty at night with my outside ferry lights in the moonlight. i also added an from imprint house (which in full disclosure, i loved so much i asked for in trade in exchange for coverage). if you don’t know about yet, it was created by and has a huge and really beautiful selection of these kinds of that i love so much, as well as a gorgeous . i’ve had all these old dining chairs, collected over the years from online vintage shops like , and , and i added the two wicker chairs from (which are currently out of stock, but you can find them in on super marché).
all i needed after that was the most important part — the dining table! i looked and looked but with covid everything i loved was back-ordered for months and i’m usually drawn to the imperfections in vintage finds anyway, and i like how sustainable vintage is so i found my dream table on . it’s a mid-century modern white fiberglass table with no known maker, but i love it. i also found on a to store my serving pieces and glassware and a that fits perfectly under the table and chairs. to these new pieces, i just added accessories from my already existing collections — pottery i’ve found on both and , the vintage shelf from , the black and white print by my good friend artist . it’s still kind of a work in progress but i couldn’t wait to share. i may add a small cocktail bar table under the shelf and a for music, but for now, i have my piped in. one must have dinner party music, right? i’m not 100% sure about the mirror either and may add some oversized artwork instead, but we shall see! for now, here is where i’m at — i can’t wait to cook up a storm and have friends and family over.
