With increasing awareness of the effects of children spending so much time on their screens, which has the potential to negatively influence cognitive and social-emotional growth, parents often think carefully about how their kids play. () is a toy company formed around the philosophy of hands-on play and learning. The company posits that thoughtful design can promote a more connected experience—and create valuable family time in the process.
Founded by architects Anastas and Bistra, ESNAF homes in on an interest in aesthetics, woodworking, and model-making to create a series of puzzle-like, sculptural toys. A new Kickstarter launches the growing studio’s new line called Birdies, which invites youngsters of all ages to assemble a colorful flock of imaginative, modular, magnetic objects. The studio says, “Unlike mass-production toys and knockoffs, we create original gifts that stand out and manifest what we stand for: beautiful spaces, free play, cleaner environment.”
