Are you someone who often puts off home projects? If so, why not make this the year that you catch up and get on with updating your home? Here are some changes that you may wish to consider making, some of which are larger projects, and some of which are simple jobs that may not take you too long. Make your list today and decide what needs doing in your home.

  1. Paint your home’s exterior

Your property should look as good on the outside as the inside, and one way to give it a facelift is to paint the exterior. Use a specialist product such as cement paint color from SeeJorakay and it should be a straightforward job. You can opt for a neutral tone, or make your home stand out with a stylish duck egg blue or even a bright red. It’s completely up to you. Simply make sure it matches your home’s look and style.

  1. Add some insulation

Insulation is a cheap and easy way to improve the energy efficiency of your home, making it cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter. It can be added to a wide range of home areas such as:

  • The loft
  • Walls
  • Garages and extensions
  • Pipes and tanks
  • Any areas with a draught

Insulation doesn’t cost much, and you may be able to add it yourself. While it’s not the most exciting of projects, it can save you a lot of money on your energy bills.

  1. Replace your roof

While you can reinsulate your roof and repair small leaks, eventually, replacing it may be your only option. Is it time for a new roof? There are lots of signs that it may be, so make sure you carry out regular inspections and make sure you get repairs done quickly. A new roof is not exactly an exciting prospect, but you’ll be glad to get it done and it does make a big difference.

  1. Consider an addition

Who wouldn’t like more space at home? Many people live in homes that are too small but moving may simply not be an option for you. Firstly, you should find out whether you need planning permission for an addition, which will vary depending on where you live and the size of the work. You can then look at getting quotes and decide on the style. What will you do with your addition? That part is up to you! If you’ve always wanted a playroom for the kids, entertaining space, or a separate dining room, this is easy to do. If you want extra bedrooms or a study, then you may want to consider a double storey extension which gives you a lot more options.

Don’t put off those home improvements any longer. Now is a great time to pick up a paintbrush and drill or get the tradespeople in to get some work done. You can then relax and enjoy your home so much more, knowing that it’s perfect for you.
