Floatis consists of two main parts: a wide, green bowl that floats like a lotus leaf, and a cylindrical purifier hidden beneath the surface. When placed in stagnant water and anchored or tied to shore, the device draws in dirty water from below. The process is simple: once the device has filled its internal reservoir, you press the center of the bowl and, after a short wait, clean water fills the top container, ready for drinking or sharing with animals.
The shape of the green bowl is not just for show; it’s inspired by the way lotus leaves spread wide to stay afloat and collect droplets. This feature lets Floatis rest gently on the water, while the submerged purifier does the hard work out of sight. The visual nod to nature makes it look at home on a pond, and the button in the center brings a little interactive magic to the process, transforming murky water with a satisfying press.
As clever as the idea is, there are a few quirks that might need a second look.
