Singulart Online Art Design Gallery Yellowtrace

Singulart is an online art and design gallery that puts the power in the hands of the artist. Founded by Vera Kempf and Brice Lecompte in 2017, the platform commands a worldwide presence in 165 countries with over 12,000 international artists at your fingertips.

The gallery purposefully challenges the status quo with diverse collections hand-picked by in-house curators. At Singulart, 49% of the artists represented are female—a statistic that is a big deal in the art world still suffering from the underrepresentation of female and indigenous artists.

“Moving the world with creativity [is] a summary of SINGULART’s vision and desire for the future,” Vera and Brice explain. “We want to have a positive impact on the world and creative spaces. We want to challenge the status quo and break down barriers on an international level. We are convinced that creativity has the power to say things for which there are no words in any language.”

As the first online art gallery to exhibit at a physical art fair in 2019, Singulart has gone on to showcase around the world, including at Scope New York and Aqua Miami.

Having recently expanded into design, the platform now offers unique furniture and objects from designers and makers worldwide. We jumped online to have a look and discovered plenty of new talent—alongside some familiar faces. Check out some of our faves from Singulart’s art and design stable below.

Albert Madaula

Albert Madaula is an internationally distinguished Spanish artist. In his work, he seeks to capture the enjoyment of life through its small pleasures: lounging in the sun, a vermouth, intimacy, and a cigarette. All of Madaula’s paintings are acrylic and sprayed on linen cloth as he plays with geometry and textures to create his contemporary, figurative and colourful art.

We remember Albert’s arresting work from Szymon Keller’s Waves House in Barcelona, a centrepiece of the living room. Revisit the project via the link below.

Fearon

Fearon is an Australian-based design and fabrication company founded in 2019 by brothers Jack and Mark Fearon. It focuses on the creation of functional aluminium objects which are designed and hand-crafted. Their work expands from seating concepts to practical furniture pieces, all of which reflect simplicity in form and a distinct interpretation of proportions.

We were lucky enough to catch the collection in the flesh at the Melbourne Design Fair back in May and can confidently say they are even better in real life!

Stamuli

Another to have graced our pages more than once, Stamuli AB is a design studio based in Sweden. A collective of “creative and technical people”, they love rationalism and endeavour to conceptualise decorations in their projects. Alongside this, colour plays an important role in their distinctive pieces.

You can find them in some of our favourite wrap-ups of the last few years, the 2021 edition of Edit Napoli, and our holy grail best of Milan Design Week 2023.

Masquespacio

No stranger to the Yellowtrace pages, Masquespacio represents the combined talents of Ana and Chris, a design duo from Spain. They cite their use of colour as being one of their strongest points, together with the fusion of materials and textures—and we happen to agree. In their pieces, Masquespacio looks to the past, bringing it to the future through a renewed and contemporary vision.

Whether it’s interiors or furniture, Masquespacio never fails to bring the heat. To see more from the designers, find our archives here.

Ahryun Lee is an award-winning designer based in South Korea with an interdisciplinary approach that fuses art with design.
