have you ever wondered what it might be like to live in the countryside? what about Australia? well, if you’ve longed for a simpler life and moving away (or simply dreamed of visiting for a while) then by ingrid weir is for you. i’ve followed for years now, and so when i saw she had a new book out, i was excited to share it with you. is an interiors book for a new way of living that combines the space and freedom of rural existence with the connections and opportunities of the modern world and it’s also a how-to guide for those dreaming of moving to the country — filled with inspiration for anyone who craves touches of rural magic and cottagecore in their home – wherever that may be, and it’s a window on the distinctive allure of Australia’s vibrant regional towns.

Authored and shot by herself, her stunning photo-filled book is much more than a manual or compilation of pretty interiors, includes profiles of towns that embody authentic and original rural living, offers guidance on how to find and create it yourself, and detours to subjects such as bringing the outside in, having friends to stay, mixing the old with the new, the importance of texture, and why food eaten outside always just tastes better. it’s a book about beautiful places and spaces, seeking meaningful connections, and brings together expertise from film and television, interior design, and her own very personal project renovating an old schoolmaster’s house in the gold-rush town of Hill End, New South Wales. here are just a few of my favorite images from . for more inspiration from ingrid, be sure to follow her on . i’m still off for spring break, so enjoy this week’s ‘best of’ spring-inspired posts and see you next week!
