The swagger of the 70s reared its head in each of the state capitals last month as furniture icons Stylecraft celebrated their Bowling for Cancer 70th Birthday Celebration.

Returning for the first time in a decade, Bowling For Cancer aims to raise money for cancer charities and provide a night out for the built environment community. In the last six years, Stylecraft has raised over $200,000 for a number of cancer charities, with a $70,000 goal set for the 2023 rendition.

The $70,000 benchmark was smashed by the conclusion of proceedings, with $78,000 raised for the Kid’s Cancer Project and Children’s Cancer Institute, as well as Singapore’s Children’s Cancer Foundation. A number of prizes, namely a five-person trip to Byron and an Aetemide lamp, were handed out to the best dressed team, best bowling team and best individual bowler – which happened to be Indesign’s own Rebecca Knight, posting a score of 191!

The Kids’ Cancer Project is an independent national charity supporting childhood cancer research, committing over $70 million dollars to scientific studies to help children with many types of cancer. The organisation’s vision is to see a one hundred per cent survival rate for children with cancer, while eradicating the harmful impacts treatment can bring.

The Children’s Cancer Institute was established in 1976 by a dedicated group of parents of children with cancer and their doctors. The organisation is the only independent medical research institute in Australia, wholly dedicated to curing childhood cancer and employs over 300 researchers, students and operational staff.

Founded in 1992, Children’s Cancer Foundation (CCF) is a Social Service Agency with a mission to improve the quality of life for children with cancer and their families, by enhancing their emotional, social and medical well-being. Over the years, CCF has helped more than 3,700 children and their families at different stages of the illness and recovery.
